This privacy policy describes how Rock River Research, LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in connection with our software products — including RockWiFi™ Pro, RockWiFi™ Essentials, RockTerm™, RockSolid Money™, RockSolid Trader™, and any future products — and our website at rockriverresearch.com.
Information We Collect
Our local Desktop products retain their local-data design as described in their product documentation. RockSolid Trader has hosted account, subscription and Online services with the processing described below and in its product-specific privacy notice. Local-only descriptions do not apply to those hosted services.
Network Diagnostic Activity
RockWiFi Pro and RockWiFi Essentials perform standard network diagnostic checks to measure and analyze your network environment. This includes DNS lookups, reachability tests to public resolvers and hosts you specify, latency measurements, and Wi-Fi scanning via the Windows WLAN API. These checks run locally and are used solely to provide you with diagnostic results. Your Wi-Fi scan data, survey results, and diagnostic findings are not uploaded to Rock River Research or any third party.
AI Features
RockTerm includes optional AI integration features that, when explicitly initiated by the user, may send terminal context to a third-party AI provider (Anthropic Claude or OpenAI, depending on which provider you configured) to generate responses. No data is sent to any external service unless you explicitly invoke the AI assistant. You control which provider you use, and whether AI features are used at all.
Products that do not include AI features (currently RockWiFi Pro and RockWiFi Essentials) do not send any data to AI providers.
RockSolid Trader accounts and brokerage connections
RockSolid Trader uses a shared hosted account for Online and Windows sign-in, subscription and device authorization. Google or Microsoft authenticates the sign-in you choose. Brokerage authorization is a separate permission granted at the broker’s own website; your brokerage password remains with the broker.
Online features process account information, market data and user-directed trading instructions through hosted services, with encrypted stored brokerage credentials. Desktop trading primarily uses local account-scoped files and a direct device-to-broker connection; shared sign-in and subscription access still use hosted services.
The RockSolid Trader privacy notice explains identity, device, brokerage, billing, support and retention processing, providers and privacy requests for both apps. It controls for RockSolid Trader where an older general local-only statement conflicts. Rock River Research does not hold your brokerage funds or securities and is not your broker or investment adviser.
Launch Notification Requests
If you ask to be notified when a product becomes available, you send us an email containing whatever information you choose to include — typically your name, your email address, and your Windows version.
We use that information solely to send you the notification you asked for and to answer any question you put to us. We do not sell it, share it with third parties, or add you to marketing mail unless you separately ask us to. You may ask us to delete it at any time by writing to support@rockriverresearch.com.
Microsoft Store
For products purchased through the Microsoft Store, purchases, licensing and Store account management are handled by Microsoft. Microsoft collects payment information, account details, and other data in accordance with their own privacy policy. RockSolid Trader shared accounts and direct subscriptions use the separate identity and payment processing described in its product-specific privacy notice; they are not Microsoft Store subscription add-ons.
Data Storage
Local Desktop workspace data, such as Wi-Fi survey projects, diagnostic results, connection profiles and local preferences, remains on your device as described by the product. RockSolid Trader hosted account and Online records are processed separately under its privacy notice; those records are not local-only.
If you choose to place your data directory inside a cloud-synchronized folder (such as OneDrive, Dropbox, Google Drive, or similar services), that is your decision and your responsibility. Doing so may expose your stored data to the cloud provider and any devices linked to your sync account. For products and files designed for local storage, storing data in a cloud-synced location is a voluntary override of that design. We are not responsible for any data exposure, synchronization conflicts, or unauthorized access resulting from user-chosen storage locations.
Third-Party Services
When you use RockTerm’s AI features, the data you send to the AI assistant is transmitted directly from your machine to the third-party AI provider you selected — either Anthropic (api.anthropic.com) or OpenAI (api.openai.com). Requests are never proxied through any Rock River Research server. That data is governed by the selected provider’s own privacy policy and terms of service. Rock River Research does not control how the AI provider processes your data.
You can disable AI features entirely by leaving the provider unconfigured in RockTerm’s settings. When AI features are not configured, no data is sent to any third-party service.
RockSolid Trader uses hosting, identity, payment and customer-authorized brokerage services as described in its privacy notice. Those providers also handle information under their own agreements and notices.
Product documentation identifies optional external services and diagnostic connections. RockSolid Trader’s shared account and Online processing are described in its product-specific notice.

Where a product-specific policy exists, it supplements this company-wide policy. In the event of a conflict, the product-specific policy governs for that product.
Children’s Privacy
Our products are not designed for or directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
