RockWiFi is designed with privacy as a core principle. This policy explains what data RockWiFi collects, stores, and transmits. It applies to RockWiFi™ Essentials and RockWiFi Pro; where a behavior is specific to one edition, it is labeled.
Because RockWiFi is a network diagnostics tool, running a test makes outbound network connections by design — that is how it measures reachability, DNS behavior, and latency. The key distinction, spelled out below, is that these are measurements, not data uploads: RockWiFi does not send your data, scans, or any telemetry to us or anyone else.
Privacy Summary
RockWiFi does not collect, transmit, or store any of your data on external servers.
- No analytics or telemetry.
- No usage tracking or feature-usage reporting.
- No cloud synchronization.
- No account or login required.
- No scan data, test results, or Wi-Fi information is ever uploaded.
- All configuration, history, and results are stored locally on your machine.
- The app makes outbound network connections only to run the diagnostic tests you initiate (reachability, DNS, latency, and target checks).
Data Collection
What RockWiFi Collects
Nothing. RockWiFi does not:
- Send usage statistics or analytics.
- Track feature usage.
- Report errors or crashes to external services.
- Collect hardware, software, or Wi-Fi environment data for us.
- Create user profiles or identifiers.
- Phone home for license verification (licensing is handled by the Microsoft Store).
- Check for updates itself (updates are delivered by the Microsoft Store).
What RockWiFi Stores Locally
All data stays on your machine:

Local Data Storage
- rockwifi.db — a local SQLite database holding your saved test runs, UltraScan sessions, and references to recordings. It contains the network/Wi-Fi measurements you captured (host names you tested, resolver answers, signal readings). It never leaves your machine unless you export or share it.
- Exports — when you click Export Report / Copy Summary in any tool, RockWiFi writes an HTML, JSON, or CSV file to your chosen folder. These files are yours; the app does not transmit them anywhere.
- Preferences — stored in the standard per-user Windows settings location for the application.
- RockWiFi requires no account, no sign-in, and no cloud service to function.
Network Communications
RockWiFi connects to hosts over the network only to perform the diagnostics you run. No user data or telemetry is transmitted; these connections exist to measure whether a host is reachable and how quickly it responds.

Wi-Fi scanning, nearby-AP discovery (UltraScan / Nearby APs), and channel-congestion analysis read data from your computer's local Wi-Fi adapter through the operating system. They do not connect to the internet.
When RockWiFi Does NOT Communicate
- At launch and at exit.
- When idle, or while you browse existing results/history.
- During configuration or settings changes.
- For license validation or "phone-home" checks.
- For update checks (handled by the Microsoft Store).
- To send analytics, telemetry, crash reports, or any of your data to us.
External Endpoints
RockWiFi does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or cloud services, and it does not share your data with any third party.
The public endpoints it contacts (Cloudflare, Google, and Quad9 for reachability/DNS, OpenDNS for DNS Compare, and — in RockWiFi Pro only — OpenStreetMap for optional map tiles) are network targets it measures, not services it hands your data to. Only the standard information required to make that connection (for example, a DNS query for a hostname you typed) is exchanged. Your use of those public services is subject to their respective operators' policies.
You can avoid contacting the public reachability/DNS endpoints by simply not running the Connection Check, DNS Compare, or internet-reachability tests. Target Test and Latency Monitor only ever contact the host you enter.
Data Retention
On Your Machine
- History, recordings, and exported files persist until you delete them.
- Settings > Privacy includes Clear Measurement History, which deletes saved test runs. You can also cap how many history entries are kept.
- Uninstalling RockWiFi removes the application; you can additionally delete
%LOCALAPPDATA%\RockWiFiPro\and your exports folder to remove all local data.
On External Servers
- None. RockWiFi stores nothing about you on any server we operate — we do not operate any data-collection servers for the app.
Your Rights
Because everything is local, you are always in full control of your data.
Access
%LOCALAPPDATA%\RockWiFiPro\— history database and recordings.Documents\RockWiFi Reports\(or your configured folder) — exported HTML/JSON/CSV.
Export
Use each tool's Export Report / Copy Summary to save results as HTML, JSON, or CSV.
Delete
- Use Settings > Privacy > Clear Measurement History to clear saved runs, then
- Uninstall RockWiFi, and
- Delete the
%LOCALAPPDATA%\RockWiFiPro\folder and any exported files you created.
