Step 1: Install from the Microsoft Store
Search "RockWiFi Pro" in the Microsoft Store or follow the link from our website. The trial is full-featured with no account required. Once installed, launch RockWiFi Pro from your Start menu or taskbar.
Step 2: Launch and Check the Dashboard
The dashboard shows your current Wi-Fi connection at a glance: SSID, signal strength, band, channel, Wi-Fi standard, and a live signal chart that updates in real time. This confirms your Wi-Fi adapter is working and gives you an immediate read on your connection quality.
Step 3: Run a Connection Check
Click Connection Check to diagnose your network in seconds. It tests each layer in sequence:
- Adapter — is your Wi-Fi adapter connected?
- Gateway — can you reach the default gateway?
- Internet — is there external connectivity?
- DNS — are name servers responding?
- Latency — what is the round-trip time?
- Packet loss — are packets being dropped?
Each step shows pass/fail with timing, so you can pinpoint exactly where the problem is.
Step 4: Scan the Environment with UltraScan
Open UltraScan to continuously scan all visible access points. You will see every AP's signal strength, Wi-Fi standard (Wi-Fi 7/6/6E/5/4), channel, channel width, client count, security, and more. UltraScan updates in real time as APs appear and disappear. Export the results to CSV for documentation or further analysis.
Step 5: Analyze Channel Congestion
The Congestion panel shows spectrum visualization for 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz bands. You can see which channels are crowded, which are clear, and where your APs sit relative to neighbors. Click any channel for detailed analysis and recommended alternatives.
Step 6: Run Your First Survey
Open Wi-Fi Survey, import a floor plan image, and click to drop signal samples as you walk the space. The heatmap builds automatically using Kriging interpolation, showing signal coverage across your floor plan. Walk the perimeter and key areas for best results.
Step 7: Locate an AP
Use the AP Locator to find any access point. Select a target AP and the hot/cold gauge responds in real time as you walk toward or away from it. Pin positions along the way for trilateration — the tool will estimate the AP's physical location on your floor plan.
Step 8: Export a Report
From any tool, click Export to generate a professional HTML report. Reports are self-contained (no external dependencies) and ready to attach to a ticket, email to a client, or archive for your records. CSV export is also available for raw data.
