RockWiFi Pro evaluates your Wi-Fi environment across multiple dimensions and produces scores that summarize network quality at a glance. This article explains what each score measures and how they combine into an overall rating.
Score Categories
Coverage Score
Based on signal strength distribution across your survey samples. The score reflects what percentage of your space has adequate coverage:
- Above −50 dBm — Excellent signal
- −50 to −67 dBm — Good signal
- −67 to −75 dBm — Fair signal
- Below −75 dBm — Poor signal
Congestion Score
Based on channel utilization and co-channel AP density. Low overlap and low airtime usage result in a high score. This accounts for all three bands (2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz).
SNR Score
Signal-to-noise ratio across the environment. Higher SNR means a cleaner, more reliable signal. This score penalizes areas where the noise floor is close to the signal level, which causes retransmissions and reduced throughput.
Roaming Score
Measures how well your APs overlap for seamless client handoff. It checks signal overlap between adjacent APs, consistent SSID configuration, and band steering support.
Network Health Score
Overall connectivity health from the Connection Check tool. Adapter status, gateway reachability, internet access, and DNS resolution all factor into this score.
Overall Score
The overall score is a weighted composite of all category scores. The weights reflect the relative importance of each category to real-world user experience. A network with strong coverage but severe congestion will score lower overall than one with balanced, moderate scores across the board.
Score Ranges
- 90–100 — Excellent
- 75–89 — Good
- 60–74 — Fair
- 40–59 — Poor
- Below 40 — Critical
Tips
- Focus on your lowest-scoring category first — that is the bottleneck. A site with 95 coverage but 40 congestion still has real problems for users.
- Use the findings section to understand why a score is low and what specific actions to take.
- Re-scan after making changes to verify improvement and track progress over time.
